About Bev Freeman

Bev Freeman provides consulting services in strategic communications for higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations. Bev has particular expertise in strategic internal communications during times of organizational change.

I have a commitment to nonprofits and higher education because I place a priority on using my skills to improve the lives of people. I am very excited about the free, unfettered, and widespread dissemination of knowledge. Thus, I love to help universities do what they do best.

For similar reasons, I want to help nonprofits work smarter and communicate effectively to their audiences. If I can contribute to strengthening these organizations, more people of all ages get a significant leg up in the world and, in many instances, are protected from harm.

I was the first director of public affairs at the Harvard School of Public Health from 1990 - 1997, where I had responsibility for media relations and special events. Until 1999, I coordinated special projects for Harvard’s provost.

Prior to Harvard (1987 - 1989), as executive director, I founded and launched a successful in vitro fertilization program at a suburban hospital.  For six years, I served as national director of RESOLVE, a national nonprofit education and advocacy organization for people with infertility problems.

I also have served Massachusetts state government as a budget analyst, development disabilities planner, and as a manager of a child abuse prevention project. My degrees are from Wellesley College (B.A., 1973) and from the University of Chicago (M.A., 1977).
